My crazy free time adventures
Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike (2017)
I hiked from Springer Mountain, GA to Mount Katahdin, ME in 127 days. The AT is ~2,190 miles, and the elevation gain and loss is the equivalent of ascending and descending Mt. Everest 16 times.
Prior to jumping on the AT, I had never hiked more than 6 miles at a time. Before I knew it I was churning out 100 miles every 4-5 days.

Ultramarathons (2017-?)
After hiking the AT I got really into covering long distances on foot. Since taking off 4-6 months from to thru hike wasn't very practical, I shifted my goals to completing large distances in a single day. I started with 50k Spartan races in 2017, then 50-milers in 2019, and finished my first 100-miler in 2024. Lots more planned!

Four-state bike ride
After finishing my term in Americorps NCCC, we had the option to defer our flight home up to a month. A couple friends and I took this opportunity to rent a car, drive to Denver, buy bikes off Craigslist, and then spent 24 days biking 1,244 miles back to Sacramento. (Colorado-> Utah -> Nevada -> California)
